This huge redevelopment of the historic Middlesex Hospital site comprised of 3 ten-storey residential blocks, 2 ten-storey office blocks, and a two-storey deep basement.
The residential blocks and the basement were of reinforced concrete construction, whilst the office blocks were casetllated steel plate-girders with composite metal decks. The structure was founded on a raft foundation.
The Contractor elected to slip-form the reinforced concrete cores of the buildings to speed up construction. Careful rebar detailing was required to ensure their temporary stability throughout construction.
With thanks to Ramboll for allowing the use of the project on our website.
